Marketing Specialist / Senior Graphic Designer


D&E is an integrated communications provider offering high-speed data, Internet access, local and long distance telephone, data, professional IT services and video services. I have been with D&E Communications for over six years. I am currently a Marketing Specialist with a focus on D&E's Computer & Networking Support and High-Speed Internet services. I work directly with the senior marketing managers to produce marketing materials, internal product training, product presentations, trade shows and events. My role requires me to be skilled not only in competitive analysis, market research, and technical writing, but also in more business oriented activities like conducting ROI and analyzing marketing investments and strategies.

Before my role as Marketing Specialist I worked as a Senior Graphic Designer. I was responsible for the marketing and advertising media design and production for D&E Communications residential and business services (Internet, Phone, Video, and Technical Support).

Email Blasts

  • Responsible for product positioning, copywriting and email design
  • Generate email mailing list
  • Send HTML email using Listrack email distribution that offers detailed management and analysis tools
  • The Free Evaluation promotion has been extremely successful way of finding new long term business customers
  • This is an example of a welcome email offer to new D&E Communications customers

Wireless Internet Campaign

  • Responsible for product positioning, copywriting and direct mail design
  • Performed product training for customer service and tech support groups to handle incoming calls
  • Used direct mail artwork to create additional campaign media
  • The wireless networking/Internet product has been extremely successful in creating monthly reoccurring revenue

Network Evaluation Campaign

  • Responsible for product positioning, copywriting and direct mail design
  • Performed product training for customer service and tech support groups to handle incoming calls
  • Used direct mail artwork to create additional campaign media
  • The Free Evaluation promotion has been extremely successful way of finding new long term business customers

Cable TV Tri fold Brochure

  • Designed program guide brochure for the D&E's cable tv service
  • Distributed brochures at all events, trade shows, presentations, office locations, and welcome kit

Internet & TV Direct Mail

  • Designed oversized postcard with a discounted bundle offering
  • Generated targeted mailing list to students of Penn State University
  • Organized printing and mailing services

Internet Direct Mail

  • Designed an oversized postcard that opens by pulling off the die-cut tickets
  • Worked with marketing managers to create Hersheypark partnership
  • Organized printing and mailing services
  • This promotional partnership proofed to be one of the most successful promotions

Internet Installation CD

  • Designed a die-cut CD case with fold out Internet setup directions
  • Designed CD artwork and a insert with important user information
  • Organized printing and distribution

Annual Report Cover

  • Designed the 2005 and 2006 Annual Financial Report Cover in wrapper format
  • Assisted with copywriting for the message to the shareholders
  • Organized printing and distribution

I had the pleasure of working with Brian in his Graphic Designer role at D&E for many years. Brian's years of experience with D&E provided an opportunity for him to make a career advancement into my Product Marketing Team as a Marketing Specialist. This new role expanded Brian's responsibilities to include developing marketing campaigns and promotions and monitoring their outcome. It also requires understanding the competitions positioning, pricing and product portfolio to ensure we continue to be competitive in the market place. As part of the Product Marketing team Brian has gained a better understanding of what media works best for certain campaigns, demographics and promotions. He continues to grow and expand his knowledge of product marketing.
